How LedgerQ Compares — Honestly, by Category
How LedgerQ compares to tax-first PH tools, global cloud accounting, and full ERPs — by category, honestly. When each is the right choice, and when it isn’t.
There's no single "best" accounting system for a Philippine SME — there's the right fit for where your business is. This page lays out the three categories of tools you're likely choosing between, what each is genuinely good at, when it's the right call, and where LedgerQ fits. We compare by category, not by picking fights with specific brands, and we're candid about where we're still earning our stripes.
The short version: LedgerQ sits in the gap between tools that are too narrow (tax-first apps), too foreign (global cloud that isn't BIR-native), and too heavy (full ERPs that need a six-month implementation). If you're a PH or SEA SME doing roughly ₱3M–50M, that gap is exactly where you live.
The three categories you're choosing between
1. Tax-first PH tools
The Philippine-native, BIR-focused filing apps.
What they're great at. These are genuinely Philippine-native and built around BIR filing. If your entire need is "generate my returns and file them," they do that well, often cheaply, and some hold formal BIR eTSP accreditation — a real trust badge.
Where they stop. Their centre of gravity is tax and compliance workflow. Inventory, fixed assets, payroll, multi-entity consolidation, marketplace settlement, CRM — the operational machinery of a growing business — is thin or absent. As your business becomes more than "books + filings," you start bolting on other tools, and you're back to a patchwork.
Choose them if: you're a freelancer, micro-business, or a CPA firm whose need is filing-centric and unlikely to broaden soon.
2. Global cloud accounting
The international small-business cloud accounting platforms.
What they're great at. Polished, easy to start, huge integration ecosystems, and increasingly capable AI features. Accountants worldwide know them. For general small-business accounting, they're a safe, proven default.
Where they stop. None is BIR CAS-native. Philippine compliance — the actual VAT/EWT/Alphalist/DAT/EIS outputs and CAS registration — is a reseller service, a CPA add-on, or a generic-tax approximation built for another country's regime. You also typically pay in a foreign currency, so your subscription drifts with the exchange rate.
Choose them if: your compliance is handled entirely by a CPA you trust, you're comfortable with a foreign compliance layer, and BIR-native output isn't a priority for you.
3. Full / heavy ERPs
The enterprise suites and regional full-ERP platforms.
What they're great at. Genuine operational depth — manufacturing, complex supply chain, multi-entity at scale, deep inventory. For a ₱500M+ business or a real manufacturing operation, this is the right weight class.
Where they stop. They're projects, not products. Partner-led implementations that run weeks to months, five-figure first-year costs, and BIR compliance configured per engagement (and often re-done at upgrades). For an SME that mostly needs compliant, capable books, that's cost and complexity aimed at a problem you don't have yet.
Choose them if: you genuinely need heavy operations now and have the budget and timeline for an implementation.
Where LedgerQ fits
LedgerQ is built for the business that has outgrown a tax-first app and a spreadsheet, needs real BIR compliance, but shouldn't have to buy — and implement — a heavy ERP to get it. Three things define the fit:
It's compliant and broad
BIR CAS output is built into the foundation — VAT 2550M/Q, EWT 2307 and 1601, the Alphalist, RELIEF Summary Lists as DAT files, Books of Accounts, EFPS, and e-invoice submission to the BIR EIS — generated from your live ledger, not outsourced. And it ships the operational modules the tax-first tools don't: inventory and costing, fixed assets, payroll, treasury and bank reconciliation, multi-currency, consolidation and inter-company, marketplace settlement, and CRM. Fifteen modules, one system. That's the "you won't outgrow it" promise made concrete.
It has an AI CFO, not an AI label
This is where LedgerQ pulls ahead. Most "AI accounting" categorises a transaction. LedgerQ's AI — Sebee, built on Anthropic's Claude — behaves like a finance team that never sleeps:
- Specialist agents with real objectives: a treasury agent watching FX exposure and cash position, a cost controller flagging budget variances, a collections agent working down your DSO, a close assistant helping at period-end.
- Cash-flow forecasting — a day-by-day forward view of your position from your live GL, so you see a shortfall before it arrives, not after.
- Proactive briefings — scheduled digests delivered to you, so the important things surface without you asking.
- Governed proposals — the AI proposes journals and actions under approval policies you control. It assists; you decide.
Tax-first tools don't attempt this. Global cloud tools are building agent features but generally ship less of it, and to bigger customers. Heavy ERPs have assistants that run tasks, but rarely a finance-brain that forecasts and briefs. On the thinking dimension of the software, LedgerQ is genuinely ahead for a business of your size.
It's peso-billed and self-serve
Billing in pesos, no FX drift, no reseller markup, and modern self-serve onboarding — not a scoped implementation project. You can be in the product and working the same day.
When LedgerQ is not your best choice
We'd rather tell you this than sell you the wrong thing:
- You need heavy manufacturing or complex supply-chain ERP today. A full ERP is the right weight class — buy one.
- You're a micro-business or freelancer whose only need is filing. A free or near-free tax-first app is cheaper and sufficient.
- Your compliance is fully handled by a CPA on a global tool and you're happy. If it isn't broken for you, a switch may not be worth it — though it's worth asking your accountant how many hours the BIR reconciliation actually costs.
The one honest caveat
Some longer-established local players hold a formal BIR Acknowledgement Certificate / eTSP accreditation that LedgerQ has not yet secured — it's on our near-term roadmap. Our BIR capability is live and verifiable in the product; the formal accreditation badge is in progress. We flag it here because you'll ask, and you should — of every vendor.
See for yourself
The fastest way to judge fit is to watch it work on real data — the BIR outputs generated live, Shopee settlements reconciled, and Sebee forecasting your cash and briefing you.

Frequently asked questions
Is LedgerQ BIR-accredited?
LedgerQ’s BIR capability is live and verifiable in the product, but it has not yet secured the formal BIR Acknowledgement Certificate / eTSP accreditation that some longer-established local players hold — that is on our near-term roadmap. In short: CAS-ready and producing the required outputs, not yet formally accredited.
Who is LedgerQ for?
The PH or SEA SME — roughly ₱3M–50M — that has outgrown a tax-first app and a spreadsheet, needs real BIR compliance, but shouldn’t have to buy and implement a heavy ERP to get it. It sits in the gap between tools that are too narrow, too foreign, and too heavy.
What does Sebee do?
Sebee is LedgerQ’s AI CFO, built on Anthropic’s Claude. It runs specialist agents with real objectives — a treasury agent watching FX and cash, a cost controller flagging budget variances, a collections agent working down DSO, a close assistant at period-end — plus day-by-day cash-flow forecasting from your live GL and scheduled briefings. The AI proposes journals and actions under approval policies you control: it assists, you decide.
When is LedgerQ not the right choice?

Or when your compliance is fully handled by a CPA on a global tool and you’re happy with it.
Is LedgerQ billed in pesos?
Yes. Billing is in pesos — no FX drift, no reseller markup — with modern self-serve onboarding rather than a scoped implementation project, so you can be in the product and working the same day.
